Seprafilm Procedure Pack Now Available
Genzyme Biosurgery introduces the Seprafilm Procedure Pack, designed to contain six 3" x 5" sheets for covering critical, adhesion-prone sites in the abdomen and pelvis during surgery. We determined the quantity and sheet size for the Procedure Pack by working closely with surgeons who use Seprafilm to cover the midline incision as well as other sites of peritoneal trauma.
The Seprafilm Procedure Pack (Reorder No. 5086-02) is supplied as six 3” x 5” sheets of Seprafilm membranes per pouch, five pouches per box.

Application sites for Seprafilm sheets include the abdominal wall and the underlying viscera, such as the omentum, small bowel, bladder, stomach, between the uterus and surrounding structures such as tubes and ovaries, large bowel, and bladder. Seprafilm should not be wrapped directly around the suture/staple line of a fresh anastomosis.

Important Safety Information
Seprafilm Adhesion Barrier is indicated for the reduction of post-surgical adhesions in patients undergoing abdominal or pelvic laparotomy. The most common adverse events in clinical trials, which were not different from untreated controls, were ileus, anastomotic leak, and abdominal abscess. Seprafilm should not be wrapped around an anastomosis as such usage may result in increased anastomotic leak related events. Seprafilm has not been studied prospectively in pregnancies, in the presence of frank infections, or in malignancies.
